Highlights of ArcGIS 9.0 are expected to include:

enhanced geoprocessing with the introduction of many new tools
enhanced 3D symbology and visualization
geodatabase XML support
geodatabase raster support
improvement in performance for ArcSDE
Enhancements to ArcGIS Publisher. ArcGIS Publisher will facilitate the sharing of Map documents over the web by the creation of PMF files that can be read by the free application ArcReader.
Maplex will provide high quality cartographic labeling and annotation
ArcGIS Server will provide a server-based deployment of ArcObjects. ArcGIS Server will focus on data management and services and support a centralization of GIS processing through thin clients. This is primarily intended for large enterprise GIS.
ArcGIS Engine will provide a new developer product that supports all the standard development environments.
ArcGIS 3D Analyst will include 搘hole Earth?visualization through the new application ArcGlobe.
